dhcp-3.0.5-i486-1 dhcp (DHCP server and client utilities)
This package provides the ISC's DHCP utilities, including both a
server and client. The DHCP protocol allows a host to contact a
central server which maintains a list of IP addresses which may be
assigned on one or more subnets. A DHCP client may request an
address from this pool, and then use it temporarily for communication
on the network. The DHCP protocol also provides a mechanism whereby
a client can learn important details about the network to which it is
attached, such as the location of a default router or name server.

dhcpcd-2.0.4-i486-2 dhcpcd (DHCP client daemon)
The DHCP client program dhcpcd is used to connect to a network by
contacting a DHCP server. dhcpcd gets an IP address and other
information from a corresponding DHCP server, configures the network
interface automatically, and tries to renew the lease time according
to RFC2131 or RFC1541 depending on the command line option.

OSSP mm is a 2-layer abstraction library which simplifies the usage of
shared memory between forked processes. On the first layer it hides
all platform dependent implementation details (allocation and locking)
when dealing with shared memory segments and on the second layer it
provides a high-level malloc(3)-style API to work with data inside
those shared memory segments. Apache, PHP, and other projects use mm.
The mm library was written by Ralf S. Engelschall.

It is based on the GMP multiple-precision library.
The main goal of MPFR is to provide a library for multiple-precision

netdate-bsd4-i486-1 netdate (simple network time utility)
Netdate takes a list of names of Internet hosts as arguments, selects
the one which supplies the best time, and sets the system time
accordingly. The invoker must be the super-user for the time to be
set. Protocol names (either udp or tcp) may be interspersed with the
host names, and determine the protocol which will be used to connect
to the hosts whose names follow, up to the next protocol name or the
end of the arguments. The default protocol is udp.
These days, "ntpdate" is probably a better choice.

netkit-routed-0.17-i486-1 netkit-routed (dynamic network routing daemon)
Routed is invoked at boot time to manage the network routing tables.
The routing daemon uses a variant of the Xerox NS Routing Information
Protocol in maintaining up to date kernel routing table entries.
It used a generalized protocol capable of use with multiple address
types, but is currently used only for Internet routing within a
cluster of networks.
routed is no longer maintained and may be insecure.

netkit-rsh-0.17-i486-1 netket-rsh (the BSD rsh/rcp/rlogin clients and daemon)

encryption or strong authentication of network connections. As such,
their use is discouraged. The "ssh" protocol and package is a
cryptographically secure replacement.
46 K 100 K
netkit-rusers-0.17-i486-1 netkit-rusers (show users logged in to machines on local network)
The rusers command produces output similar to who, but for the list
of hosts or all machines on the local network. For each host
responding to the rusers query, the hostname with the names of the
users currently logged on is printed on each line. The rusers
command will wait for one minute to catch late responders.
Portmap and rpc.rusersd must be running on remote machines. Should
probably be considered insecure (or at least ill-advised) on public
networks.
18 K 50 K
netkit-rwall-0.17-i486-1 netkit-rwall (send a message to all users)
The rwall command sends a message to the users logged into the
specified host. The message to be sent can be typed in and
terminated with EOF or it can be in a file.
Run the rpc.rwalld daemon with caution. It may be insecure.
The rwall command appeared in SunOS.
11 K 30 K
netkit-rwho-0.17-i486-2 netkit-rwho (who is logged in on local machines)
The rwho command produces output similar to who, but for all machines
on the local network. If no report has been received from a machine
for 11 minutes then rwho assumes the machine is down, and does not
report users last known to be logged into that machine. If a users
hasn't typed to the system for a minute or more, then rwho reports
this idle time. If a user hasn't typed to the system for an hour or
more, then the user will be omitted from the output of rwho unless
the -a flag is given.

netwrite-0.17-i486-1 netwrite (in.writed daemon for accepting network "write")

inetd(8) listening for TCP requests on port 811. No attempt is made
to determine the authenticity of users sending messages. This
program should probably not be deployed on insecure networks.

qca-1.0-i486-3 qca (Qt Cryptographic Architecture)
QCA aims to provide a straightforward and cross-platform crypto API,
using Qt datatypes and conventions. QCA separates the API from the
implementation, using plugins known as Providers. The advantage of
this model is to allow applications to avoid linking to or explicitly
depending on any particular cryptographic library. This allows one
to easily change or upgrade crypto implementations without needing
to recompile the application.
QCA was written by Justin Karneges.

quota-3.13-i486-1 quota (Linux disk quota utilities)
An implementation of the diskquota system for the Linux operating
system to keep those greedy users from gobbling up 100% of the hard

This system is based on the Melbourne quota system by Robert Elz.
Edvard Tuinder and Marco van Wieringen ported this code to Linux.
Jan Kara added support for the new Linux quota format and the XFS
filesystem.

been mostly superceded by the use of ssh and sshd. However, the
telnet client is still a very handy tool, and telnetd may still have
some uses on networks that are known to be secure.
telnet and telnetd were ported from BSD.

way to a specified network host. Traceroute will display the IP
number and host name (if possible) of all the machines along the route
taken by the packets. If you're having network connectivity problems,
traceroute can show you where the trouble is located.

xfsdump-2.2.38_1-i486-1 xfsdump (backup tools for the XFS filesystem)
The xfsdump package contains the xfsdump and xfsrestore utilities for
backing up and restoring XFS partitions. xfsdump examines files in a
filesystem, determines which need to be backed up, and copies those
files to a specified disk, tape or other storage medium. xfsrestore
performs the inverse function of xfsdump; it can restore a full
or incremental backup of a filesystem.

xorg-server-1.3.0.0-i486-2 xorg-server (The Xorg server, the core of the X Window System)
Xorg is a full featured X server that was originally designed for UNIX
and UNIX-like operating systems running on Intel x86 hardware. It now
runs on a wider range of hardware and OS platforms. This work was
derived by the X.Org Foundation from the XFree86 Project's XFree86
4.4rc2 release. The XFree86 release was originally derived from X386
1.2 by Thomas Roell which was contributed to X11R5 by Snitily Graphics
Consulting Service.

xorg-server-xnest-1.3.0.0-i486-2 xorg-server-xnest (a nested X server)
Xnest is an experimental nested server for X that acts as both a

manages windows and graphics requests on its behalf. Xnest is a
server to its own clients. Xnest manages windows and graphics
requests on their behalf. To these clients Xnest appears to be a
conventional server.

xorg-server-xvfb-1.3.0.0-i486-2 xorg-server-xvfb (virtual framebuffer X server)
Xvfb is an X server that can run on machines with no display hardware
and no physical input devices. It emulates a dumb framebuffer using
virtual memory. The primary use of this server is intended to be
server testing. The mfb or cfb code for any depth can be exercised
with this server without the need for real hardware that supports the
desired depths. A secondary use is testing clients against unusual
depths and screen configurations.
